Hi peole.can the controller be used with out a phone?

Yes, but you would have no info on direction, battery, etc.

Yes, can't really see a scenario to do this unless your phone's battery has died.

I have had the app crash plenty on the phone but still had full control of the AC, but land shortly thereafter. I would not consider launching by RC only without monitor. Why??

On top of the cases where your phone's dead, for plain old fun! Like we used to do as long as 2 years ago with cheap drones like the DM007 ;-)

There will be also limitation in distance and height, something like 50 / 30 meters.

And you cannot change the picture mode. Used it to quickly capteur a sunshine as Go4 asked me for some chineese phone number to confirm my ID.
Was in shallow focus mode and it totally failed, zero pics.

as others have said as a last resort. It's a PITA that they did not use the same remote found on the Mavic since it has a read-out and can be 'really' used w/out a phone + then I would only have to pack 1 remote.
