Spark’s GPS receiver

Oh, I have flown home made craft for 2 years.
And started off with non-GPS models.
I have learned to expect the unexpected in adverse conditions or lack of GPS

And, the results are still to be seen - once I get it back :)

Nice!
After 2 weeks (one week there and one week back) DJI sent me a new Spark.
GPS Home Sets in 30 seconds and I got up to 18 sats on the first flight.
I never saw over 14 with the other and that was rare.
Averaged 9-12

By the way, this maiden flight with 18 sats was here:

So not seeing the horizon, trees buildings did not cause the low GPS reception.
I will further prove this with a flight at Walmart and my place of work soon.

@pmshop, good you now share the experience of other Spark users. To us (me at least), it was obvious you got a defunct unit.

It was how I was taught when I became a member of the Syma X8C clan in RCGroups
Even developed a tear-down manual for the craft and posted it.
Carried on the habit passing of good information when I built my own DIY craft.

Just decided it was time for a "Travel Drone"

Here is the best yet...4-10 sats locked and a few Home Point Set inside!
Reading 4 to 10 GPS satellites locked while inside. 7-10 on the main floor and 4-7 on the sub level floor.
You probably could have used this before but CsvView/DatCon now has GPS data. In particular, the horizontal and position dilution of precision data is available. Go here to download CsvView
