Part 107 users have Airspace Authorization for LAANC.

They don't have to talk to 2 dozen people everytime they want to fly their drone.

What if we all contacted the FAA and requested a similar app for those of us who fly for a hobby.

I would think that there would be less people flying their drone illegally due to the hassle of notifying airports and towers everytime they got the itch to fly their drone in their backnyard.

The control towers and FAA are also highly motivated to eliminate all those unnecessary phone calls.

Once the LAANC system is fully implemented for Part 107 pilots the FAA plans to "provide near real-time processing of airspace authorization requests for unmanned aircraft (UAS) operators nationwide." Final deployment begins Sept 13, 2018. Skyward and AirMap were selected to participate.

They have been moving pretty quickly for a government policy. I'm hoping by late 2019 for hobbyists to be included.
