To landing gear? or not to landing gear?

The fact that the claim is that it jumped at his face "a bunch of times" makes me believe that the entire thing is fabricated. If Sparks were regularly jumping at people's faces when launching, we would know about it. If it happened ONCE, maybe I believe it. A bunch? No, that's just made up.

    Power Bank

Those portable power packs are a good idea to keep with your Spark so you can charge it up while you're not at home.

Southwest Airlines & Spark Carry On

Realistically it's not up to the airline anyway. It's up to the FAA and TSA. If you can make it through security with your stuff, you can just shove it in your carry-on bag and you're good to go. There's pretty much no way your airline is going to know either way, as long as you're not just...

    Ok thanks. :-)

    No microSD card?

Now that I'm thinking about it, mine didn't come with one from Best buy either. The aforementioned 8GB card was something I dug up around the house. Had a brain lapse there...

    Spark’s GPS receiver

My success seems to be based on where I am. If I'm at home it takes forever to get a GPS lock. Out and about it's usually very quick. I think there's probably some local interference or the trees create issues. Might be the same in your case.

Southwest Airlines & Spark Carry On

I know the official policies and the FAA regulations say that I should be able to carry the Spark batteries on an SWA flight, but: Does anyone have any experiential story they can share about that? I'm going to stick the batteries in a lipo fire proof bag just to be safe, but should I be...

    No microSD card?

Mine came with an 8GB SanDisk Ultra.

    Better case than stock?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071WGR3S2/ I have this one and it's excellent. The upper lid has a surprisingly large amount of space in the zipped compartment. More than enough room for another battery or three, prop guards, the 3-wide battery charger panel, memory cards, and more. The most...

A kind of newbie question that I have not seen covered before

If I set my drone on concrete with rebar in it, or on a metal surface, it will request a compass re-calibration. Once I remove it from that surface it's fine. With the spark and its ability to use its camera to maintain its bearings when there's no GPS signal, I almost always take it off without...

NFZ wil i have an issue flying by mY HOUSE

"Mutually agreed" means both parties agree to whatever "operating procedure" you come up with. As was stated earlier, they may want you to call every time, or they may just tell you you're free to do whatever and don't need to bother calling.

Is the short flight times really prohibitive.

It really depends on your expectations and practices. I have 3 batteries, and I've not felt constrained by the battery life. If you have multiple batteries and you're not a daredevil who wants to go over a mile away and make sure you can get home, the battery life shouldn't be an issue. Dozens...

NFZ wil i have an issue flying by mY HOUSE

FYI according to the latest FAA rules, for consumer use you can just make a "mutually-agreed upon operating procedure" with airports within 5 miles so you don't have to call every time you fly. I did this with an airport near my home. Fly for Fun under the Special Rule for Model Aircraft

A bit disappointed in my new Spark.

    1) This is true of all DJI drones in my experience. The wifi connection introduces about 500ms of lag into the video feed.. 2) It depends heavily on what you're flying around, and what the wifi signals in the area look like. Lots of wifi signals = decreased range. Lots of trees = decreased...

    Wi-Fi vs OTG

I've been trying to use the OTG cable lately and it continually disconnects the feed from the drone. I still maintain a connection to the controller, but the drone itself is "disconnected" randomly in 9/10 flights. I can still control it to bring it back, but it just registers as DC'd and I have...
