So got my Lava Red Spark about 2 weeks ago and it's great! Gone up about 350ft and as far out as 1,724 ft. Should it go farther than that with out cutting out? How far have you gotten with the controller? How come I can't fly that far when I'm connected to the otg cable? Also a panp pic of Big Bear Lake at sundown. And a regular pic.

I've gotten around 450ft high and everything was fine...I've seen video's of people going 1500ft without issues. I've gotten around 1800 feet in distance, again, no issues. I don't know why you'd have any distance issues with OTG cable as OTG has nothing to do with range since it only connects your phone to the controller. Have fun!

Yeah I've seen video of people going a mile but when I get around 1723ft in distance it cuts out saying no visual something or no signal. One time out farther then I was and it cut out and flew back to me cause of the home destination. That was scary I do live a few miles away from a not paved airport would that have anything to do with it?

I don't think the airport has anything to do with it. For the distance, there are a lot of factors. Is anything in between you and the Sparks line of sight (trees, building, clouds, etc?) That will affect the signal. What altitude were you at? I get better range higher up. Were your antennas pointed directly at the spark (flat side perpendicular to the spark?). For me, even though I have insurance, I get nervous when it's that far out because honestly, it's very hard to see and I often lose line of sight.

ahh didn't know that. yes many trees here I live in big bear lake. I thought it might be that problem but wasn't sure. I got nervous as well but I wanted to see how far I could go. Thank you! org_e5b301a862f27878_1521855917000.jpg

I too limit my distances for safety reasons. The most I fly is a half a mile. About 2500 feet. I geofenced my self by setting that number as my...cut to Spark voice... “Maximum Distance Reached”. That way I know my limits.
Why chance something going wrong.
My humble opinion.

Check out this tutorial I made and it my help you have better signal quality!
