I tried the same as in you second video, I got the same behavior on the battery's led.
But for sure not in the first video. The status leds of the Spark always turn on when battery power is turned on, with USB connection to the PC or not.
You should show them the first video, this is for sure not correct. You should also mention about the fly away you had so they can check the IMU sensors and compass. From your flight records, it was either a bad calibrated compass or a faulty one.
