First flight spark

Took a leap of faith, first flight.. Did not know what was up, spent slot of time with videos and instruction manual. Only let it hover in tripod mod, and got up to 30 feet. Scary, but calmed down. Was worried initially, said motor instruction when I lifted off, the rotors tipped a bit and hit a weed, then took off and the drone flew fine. How long should I fly beginner mode. No crashing, nothing. With my phone, android, but most recent updates, everything worked flawlessly. Stoked!

Saving money for controller and batteries, but got initially for just disc golf, watching form, and hole previews.

How long should I fly beginner mode

If you're comfortable controlling your Spark, there's no need to use beginner mode. When disabled, you'll need to be a little bit more mindful since your Spark will then be able to take off before it marks the home point and be able to fly without the height/distance restrictions.

Can I start tripod, then set home point, then go off beginner mod, for active track?

You can switch flight modes/settings mid-flight (if that's what you're asking).

I've never seen Spark remote controllers in big box stores around me.

Micro center might have. Some stores even has open box around $100.
