Fire hd tablet

I'm having a lot of trouble keeping any of my "Android" tablets or phones connected to the spark,I was wondering as the amazon fire hd is a lot cheaper than the Apple stuff ,would it work and be worth buying one.
I have to consider the costs at this time of the year because of my two kids.
