I just bought a third battery - I keep the first two in the hard shell case on the sides where the battery cut outs are. Is it okay to store the third battery on the actual spark in the hard case long term? Or should I find an alternate storage space?

I would consider state farm insurance - $60 and you don't have to jump through the GJI hoops. It's also covered if it gets lost and you can't recover it. Someone started googledoc listing of agents per state and what they were charged / experience here: State Farm agents who write UAS policies.
