I believe the beginner mode range is 50 meters away and maybe 30 meters high. Attempting to fly beyond should generate an error in the app, though, not a link problem.

I don't have cellular on my iPad and this feature seems to work fine. I get it when I'm within 5 miles of my local airport which is no big deal since I always follow the FAA guideline to call my ops in their area to the local tower. I don't think this has anything to do with having Internet...

Dynamic Home Point set itself (or actually I swiped to set it) when I executed the RTH. The drone, however, would not fly back as it was outside the safe flight range. There is no documentation that indicates this behavior. Could I have been a better pilot - sure, I'll take that criticism...

I wrapped mine in a lime green Drone Girl vinyl wrap for better recovery visibility. It mostly works. The space tolerance in my case is messing with the decal. They fit really well on parts of the Spark (no so well on batteries). It was worth the investment.

I'm lucky enough to have acquired an iPad Mini as a platform for flying my Spark. It is cellular-capable. What are the advantages of putting a SIM in and paying ten bucks a month for having it? Thanks in advance for any help.

I think the appropriate behavior is to RTH, just like a battery emergency or lost signal connection. In my case I triggered four RTH with dynamic home point and the Spark ignored them all as far as I can tell.

We know what happened. The drone became paralyzed when we moved out of the set safe fly range and refused four RTH requests. Which DJI calls operator error which is total crap.

Checking each propeller for firm attachment and visual inspection should happen before every flight. I know some folks who rotate the props (i.e. use the same set but move to opposite motor), not sure what that does but I added it to my checklist. I don't think you should have to change any of...
