A fire dept outside of St.Louis is starting to use a drone to check out situations that may arrive when a emergency situation happens.
It’s a dji drone and I could tell by the controller and I believe it is a souped up Mavic Pro with a infrared camera with other enhancements.
The drone cost $30,000.

Seems like a funny choice to me to hold an IR camera, unless its for indoor use.. the Mavic is so small wouldn't the lack of room for a larger IR camera or lens be a limitation? If they are going to pay 30K for a drone than I would think a Phantom or a Inspire would be more suitable. Seems like drones are a great tool for fire departments, search and rescue teams and the like

Thats what I thought, there is simply no room or provision for an IR lens on a Mavic.. had to be a Phantom or Inspire
